Managing truck and trailer access at high-volume shipping terminals is no small feat. For one national logistics company, the process created bottlenecks at the guard station. Data Link leverage the customer’s existing Gallagher access control system to design a solution that replaced manual guard checks with seamless automation. Since all trucks were already outfitted with RFID tags, we integrated Nedap transit-style readers—similar to the technology used in toll booths—to capture each truck’s ID as it approached the terminal gate.

From there, our team worked hand-in-hand with the customer’s in-house programming to verify the truck’s authorization in real time. If a truck was cleared for that terminal, at that time, the system instantly flipped the traffic light to green and opened the gate—no guard interaction required.
